ENKA, which operates in different sectors such as engineering and construction, energy, real estate and trade in many different geographies, has made a commitment to serve sustainable development in all its operations.

The approach which ENKA has adopted to corporate sustainability is built on an awareness of its economic, environmental and social responsibilities to all its internal and external stakeholders. ENKA Sustainability Strategy, which was developed with an intensive stakeholder dialogue, is kept up-to-date by Sustainability Department and ENKA Sustainability Committee, which consists of representatives from various subsidiaries and departments within the organization. ENKA’s President and Chairman of the Executive Committee, who is also the sponsor of the Sustainability Committee, leads this process.

ENKA’s sustainability strategy, drawn up in line with ENKA’s fields of influence and sustainable development goals, is built on the following four foundations:

Connection between ENKA’s Sustainability Strategy and the UN Sustainable Development Goals

The Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the Global Agenda, were born at the United Nations Sustainable Development Conference held in Rio de Janeiro in 2012 and came into force in January 2016. The 17 sustainable development goals (SDGs) and the 167 sub-targets that were identified form a set of aims that are directed towards the urgent environmental, political and economic problems faced by the world.

ENKA is a signatory of the Global Compact and it intends to contribute to the UN Global Agenda through its sustainability strategy, the decisions it takes and the operations it carries out.

ENKA is included in Dow Jones Sustainability Index

According to 2020 assessment results of the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI), which is the first index to be established as a global sustainability indicator for investors who integrate sustainability criteria into their investment portfolios and monitors the performance of the world’s leading companies in terms of environmental, social and economic (ESG), ENKA has been selected to be included in DJSI one of the world’s most prestigious sustainability and ESG indices.


ENKA is included in Borsa Istanbul Sustainability Index

ENKA was entitled to be included in the BIST Sustainability Index, which lists companies with high environmental, social and governance performance, as of October 2019 with its corporate sustainability performance as a result of independent research company EIRIS’ annual evaluation based on international sustainability criteria such as climate change, biodiversity, anti-corruption and human rights.


ENKA is a Constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series

FTSE Russell (the trading name of FTSE International Limited and Frank Russell Company) confirms that ENKA İnşaat has been independently assessed according to the FTSE4Good criteria, and has satisfied the requirements to become a constituent of the FTSE4Good Index Series.

The FTSE4Good indices are used by a wide variety of market participants to create and assess responsible investment funds and other products.

Corporate Governance Rating

According to the evaluation made based on Capital Markets Board’s “Corporate Governance Principles” methodology, ENKA İnşaat ve Sanayi A.Ş. Corporate Governance Rating, which was determined as 9.18 on 2.11.2018, was updated as 9.28 on 4.11.2019.

CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) Evaluation

The results of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP), which ENKA reported for the year 2017 for the first time in Climate Change and Water Security categories, were evaluated as “B-” in 2019. The results of the evaluation for the report of 2018 were announced in 2020 and the score of ENKA increased to “B”.
